Alexei Nicholaevitch Romanov, the last Tsarevitch/Tsar for a few hours on March 15, 1917
In film depictions of the execution, sometimes Alexei was shown as a little boy- the reality was he was handsome, almost a grown man who would have been 14 in two weeks, He was tall and handsome, with gray/blue eyes. He had a privileged and coddled but tortured short life. His parents and sisters doted and hovered over him;he lived in the shadow of threatened death from hemophilia. Because of his illness, his mother fell under the sepulchral influence of Rasputin and their entwinement may have brought down the Imperial Romanov Dynasty. These photos show Alexei toward the end of his life- on the balcony in Tobolsk, may be the last ever taken of him.
