In the aftermath of the massacre of the Romanovs, much information came to light on the most vicious of the killers: Peter Ermakov, who came to the Ipatiev Mansion dead drunk and psychotic. While others shot- many in reluctance under orders, some dutifully- only Ermakov was sadistic- and inflicted the most brutal wounds upon the poor dying children. This despicable deranged man lived by many accounts until 1952. Most interesting in his post Ipatiev record, was an interview he gave to the famous journalist, Richard Halliburton, when Ermakov gave a detailed account of the murders. This interview has been debated for decades- some day Halliburton embellished it, took information from Ermakov's wife. Ermakov was alleged very ill with throat cancer when he spoke with Halliburton. But he lived another twenty years. Yet more credibility is given to most of the details in his story now than then...Here is a link to a scholarly article which covers everything in this fascinating story.http://isites.harvard.edu/fs/docs/icb.topic1453389.files/C-2%20Russian%20Revolution/Ermakov.pdf
